The flats under construction along Stoke Quay are nearing completion and
some are for sale. The development, designed by Living Architects (who
started the project in 2007) for Genesis Housing Association has been built
by ISG (formerly Jackson Construction) and should be complete this autumn.
Under a shared ownership scheme 25% of a single bedroom flat can be
purchased for £30,000 with rent payable on the outstanding difference.
As incomes rise then the percentage of ownership can be increased and the
rent proportionally decreased. This scheme enables first time buyers to get
a foot on the housing ladder.
The Unique Selling Point is its proximity to Ipswich Station; perhaps the
young people of London who will commute after moving in are a key clientele
